Privacy is Our Priority
At Ghostype, we believe your writing is yours alone. We don't store, sell, or share your data. When you use Ghostype, you truly remain a ghost—invisible, private, and in complete control.
What We Don't Collect
We are committed to not collecting or storing your personal data:
- ✓Your writing content: We don't store any text you process through Ghostype. Your content is sent directly to AI providers for processing and immediately discarded.
- ✓Personal documents: We never access, read, or store files from your computer.
- ✓Browsing history: We don't track which apps you use Ghostype in or what websites you visit.
- ✓Usage analytics: We don't track how you use the app or collect behavioral data.
What We Store (Minimal)
To provide our service, we only store the absolute minimum:
- •Account information: Email address for authentication and communication about your subscription.
- •Subscription status: Your current plan, billing information (handled securely by Stripe), and subscription status.
- •Usage limits: Request counts to enforce fair usage limits for your plan (no content stored).
- •Custom tones: If you create custom writing tones, we store their definitions (name and instructions) so they work across your devices.
Third-Party Services
Ghostype uses the following third-party services:
- AI Providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google): Your text is sent to these providers for processing. They have their own privacy policies, but we use API endpoints that don't retain your data for training or other purposes.
- Supabase (Authentication & Database): Used for secure authentication and storing minimal account data mentioned above.
- Stripe (Payments): Handles all payment processing securely. We never see or store your credit card information.
Data Security
All data transmission between your device and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL protocols. Your authentication credentials are hashed and securely stored using best practices.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- •Request access to any data we store about you
- •Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- •Export your custom tones and settings
- •Opt out of marketing emails (while still receiving critical service updates)

Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy:
- •Account data: Retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion
- •Usage data: Retained for up to 12 months for billing and support purposes
- •Writing content: Never stored—immediately discarded after processing
We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, such as fraud prevention and legal compliance.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.
By using Ghostype, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. We take appropriate measures to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, including through the use of Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Our lawful basis for processing your data includes: (a) contract performance, (b) legitimate interests, and (c) consent where applicable.
California Users (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, opt-out of sales (we don't sell your data), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the past 12 months.
Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law. We maintain security measures and incident response procedures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure. By using Ghostype, you acknowledge and accept these inherent risks.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website may use essential cookies and similar tracking technologies for authentication and basic functionality. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or analytics on the website.
The desktop application does not use cookies or tracking technologies beyond what is necessary for authentication and service functionality.
Do Not Track Signals
Because we don't track users beyond essential service functionality, Do Not Track signals from your browser do not require any action on our part. We respect your privacy by default.
Legal Disclaimer and Limitations
Important Notice
While we take privacy seriously and implement industry-standard security measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We are not responsible for unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other breaches beyond our reasonable control.
Use at Your Own Risk: You acknowledge that your use of Ghostype and transmission of data is at your own risk. We disclaim all liability for unauthorized access or disclosure of your information to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Third-Party Liability: We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party services, including AI providers. Your use of the service constitutes acceptance of the risks associated with third-party data processing.
Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Ghostype is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the service or provide any personal information.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@ghostype.ai.
Law Enforcement and Legal Requests
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests from public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements. We may also disclose information when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to government requests.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice via email or through the application at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
